Out of this town
© Martin Praetorius
You have been broken hearted
All of your plans have been thwarted
You haven't quite recovered
From your last defeat
Yes you can sit there waiting
It doesn't bear contemplating
Your sorrow's a melody
That's playing on repeat
Come on girl, let's get out of this town
Catch a dream and chase it all around
Trough your hopes high in the air
Don't let time slip away
Come on girl, let's get out of this town
And not worry if it's love we found
Through your hopes high in the air
Don't let time slip away
Against the wind that's blowing
You got to keep on rowing
Look at the sunlight coming
Right across the bay
Maybe we'll stick together
Through all the rougher weather
What's in a roll of the dice
No one can really say
Come on girl, let's get out of this town...
Here's to what tomorrow brings
Here's to brand new days
Come on girl, let's get out of this town...

Heart Shaped Stone

Heart Shaped Stone
© Martin Praetorius
I found a heart shaped stone
In the sand on the beach
Of white and grey
Within hand's reach
A heart shaped stone
The skies were blue
The rain had cleared
And last night's storm
It had disappeared
A heart shaped stone
Who knows who picked it up
Held it and weighed it
Then carelessly threw it away
A hundred times 1000 years
Slowly and steadily
Washed from the boulder clay
A heart shaped stone
I dreamed of you
Just the other night
I was wide awake
Before the morning light
I dreamed of you
Around your neck
A leather chain I own
With a heart of steel
And a turquoise stone
I dreamed of you
Rather peculiar
It was almost familiar
And strangely as if time stood still
A moment of sweet regret
Why can I not forget
The instant when love felt real
I found a heart shaped stone
I dreamed on the beach
I was wide awake
It was out of reach...
A heart shaped stone

Life Is Good
© Eoin Mulvihill/Martin Praetorius
Here I'm strutting down the avenue
Not a bother on me, skies are blue
I got momentum and an attitude
Ain't nothing gonna change my mood
I'm alright, I am free
This song won't have a minor fall
Ain't no reason to go down at all
I'm just happy with the air I breathe
Everybody is a friend to me
I'm alright, I am free
Chorus
I'm going up, I'm gonna keep on rising
The sky's no limit when you shoot for the moon
This world around me is so mesmerising
Life is good
I'm triggering a state of mind
So exited about what I find
Got my rhythm and I got my groove
I can feel it in the way I move
I'm alive, I am free
Chorus
Life is good, it's good, life is good
You know it's good, it's good, life is good
You know it's good, it's great,
It's what you make of it
Chorus

August
© Martin Praetorius
I guess I've seen her face before
I can't remember when
The beauty in her wild green eyes
The shimmer of her skin
And how she moves so gently
In her simple cotton dress
I can't help, but lie awake at night
And dream of her caress
A steady rain is falling
Not a breeze is in the air
Oh August, what have you become
You used to be so fair
You now look like a herold
Of the autumn coming soon
It ssems like only yesterday
When flowers where in bloom
But look - how she sways
In those soft summer days...
The years have passed, I'm older now
And youth has slipped away
I never met someone like her
Or never made her stay
Oh, how dare you expect
That you will age like vintage wine
Maybe she's the one
You were never meant to find
mixed & mastered in a house in Crosshaven, Co. Cork, Ireland

The Travelling Kind
© Martin Praetorius
I done some living
I did some dreaming
I thought that I'd be fine
I met a woman
I made some money
I lost it all down the line
Chorus
And I never really planned all this
I never really planned all this
It somehow seems like
I'm the travelling...
And I never really planned all this
I never really planned all this
It somehow seems like
I'm the travelling...
They say wisdom
Comes with the years
I'm running out of time
And how 'bout love
The lasting kind
I'm way past my prime
Chorus
I wanna lie down
In the tall gras
And stare into the sun
But my back is bent
My heart is broken
Hell, I'm not the only one
And I never really planned all this
I never really planned all this
It somehow seems like
I'm the travelling...
Kind...
Mind...
Kind.

When The Rain Came Down

When the rain came down
© Martin Praetorius
And when the rain came down
I finally fell asleep
The distant thunderstorm
Aligned with my heartbeat
Wild, heavy
In the heat
Where did I come here from
The truth is, I don't know
After the tiredness
I grab my things and go
And search, for your
Sweet defeat
They weigh heavy on my chest
These years of loneliness
They can bring a good man to his knees
Now, I'm not saying I'm good
It's not that I don't try
It must be this gypsy soul
That always says goodbye
Love, turns and
Skips a beat
They weigh heavy on my chest
These years of loneliness
They can bring a good man to his knees
And when the rain came down
I finally fell asleep
I dreamed of the one who will
Align with my heartbeat
Wild, heavy
In the heat

Down to the sea
© Martin Praetorius
I got weary
So I walked down to the sea
To the cool of the water
To find serenity
And I hold
And I breathe
Feel the ground
Underneath
The house is simple
The doors are open wide
With plenty of windows
To let in air and light
And I rise
And I sleep
I feel the tide
Come over me
The soul is as light as a feather
The weight that I carry is deep
I'm shouting my name at the weather
And it's shouting my name back at me
I got weary
So I walked down to the sea
To the cool of the water
And I found peace in me

Reminiscense
© Martin Praetorius
It was early in December
A room without a view
A bed, a chair, a skylight
The rain was dripping through
I clenched my fist, the naked wall
Half brick, half stone, it wouldn't fall
I faltered, I thought twice
Than I withdrew
And I went into the alley
The twilight down below
My conciouscness surrendered
To the steady untertow
The smell of piss on wet cobblestone
Sweat and smoke, and cheap cologne
My memoir came back
And it came slow
When I saw you
And all my darkest dreams became untrue
The perfect image of A love I knew
You paint the sky in white and blue
You are the light the morning dew
Yet just the reminiscence
Of my youth
I woke up from a bad sleep
In someone else's bed
Echoes of the night before
Were ringing in my head
I turned around, I hoped to find
A sign someone had left behind
My sanity
Was hanging by a thread
And I barely can relember
How days turned into years
The shadow of a long goodbye
Became my bleakest fears
Your memory, it pulls on me
Just like the moon pulls on the sea
It comes and goes
It never dissappears

Thoughts and Prayers
© Martin Praetorius
I've a bitter taste
In my mouth
It might originate from
Thinking out loud
What I say
Is what I mean
Hope I don't leave much room
For misinterpretation
Look at this place
From up above
Could you imagine it
Free from peace and love
Now look again
From within
It is foul and false and
Full of deadly sin
There's war in every corner
And it's eye for an eye
And the language on all sides
Remains the same
And we are staring at the scene
As if it was a movie screen
But somewhere someone will leave
Thoughts and prayers
This world's for some
And for some it's not
It basically depends
On how much money you've got
And if you're white
It seems you're better off
For the rest of us
It's already getting rough
They kill the love
And they spew hatred
I wonder, will we find the time
To rise against this
If revolution
Is not now
Tell me, how're we gonna turn this
Tell me how
This constant strain
Of greed and grudge
And rivalry, you be the judge
Is it coiling in our DNA?
And we are staring at the scene
As if it was a movie screen
Meanwhile
The ice is melting
And the water's rising
And the desert's growing
The planet's burning, burning,
And we have thoughts
Thoughts and prayers
Thoughts and prayers
Thoughts and prayers
Thoughts and prayers
The curtain falls
The clock strikes one
It's long after we had time
To get things done
And from the ashes
And the dirt
There's no rising this time
We will all get hurt...

House With Yellow Windows
© Praetorius/Svendsen/Jesperson
We took the old road to the city
As we left the dual carriageway behind
With every house and sign we passed
This feeling in my heart was realigned
I've always been dreaming
Now I can clearly see
The house with yellow windows
Is waiting for me
The times we spent together
The friends we made, with laughter and with song
It seems like an eternity
Though it hasn't been that long
Now I am returning
To the city by the sea
Where the house with yellow windows
Is waiting for me
I've always been dreaming
Now I can clearly see
The house with yellow windows
Is waiting for me

To The Dreamers

To the dreamers
© Martin Praetorius
You shut your eyes
You want to shed your skin
It feels like something's broken
From within
You shut your mind
And stop making sense
You just wish there is hope
Around the bend
Where the road is open
And the sky is wide
A million stars
Will be your guide
And from the East
It soon will dawn
Here's to the dreamers
Keep dreaming on
Step by step
And rung by rung
At times what seems easy
Can't be done
You close your eyes
And stop making sense
You just wish for a sign
Around the bend
Where the road is open
And the sky is wide
A million stars
Will be your guide
And from the East
It soon will dawn
Here's to the dreamers
Keep dreaming on
And every morning when you rise,
You're starting over, once again
Sometimes change comes in disguise
A riddle to unravel, a mystery to be solved
It won't be long and you'll be on your way
And the road is open
And the sky is wide
A million stars
Will be your guide
And from the East
It soon will dawn
Here's to the dreamers
Keep dreaming on
